A new Sofortbild beta is out, this time adding support for the Nikon D610, in addition to what b1 had to offer. Please sign up on HockeyApp if you have a D610 and are willing to test. One or two more testers for D4s and Df wouldn’t hurt either. Thank you!
In the meantime, Nikon released their development kit for the D5500, but unfortunately it differs quite a lot from previous SDKs, so there’s no easy or quick way to integrate it. We are looking into possible solutions, but it’ll take a while. Sorry about that.
Nikon has also announced the brand-new D7200, but that isn’t even shipping yet, so no need to ask us for support. A software development kit for third parties might still be months out. Given the changes for the D5500, we have to assume that this one will also be very hard to support.

says:D7200 is now available in France
Florian
says:Maybe, but there’s no SDK in sight: https://sdk.nikonimaging.com/apply/ Plus, as I explained, it’s probably going to be as hard as the D5500 to support. Please don’t wait for Sofortbild to support either the D5500 or the D7200, it will likely take a while.

I have been waiting so long to see my D610 supported and I would love to help testing the beta’s.
I am getting the same message “This recruitment has ended”
Can I still offer my help?

Jay
says:Any idea on an ETA for the 1.4 final release? I’m anxious to try it out with my D750.
Florian
says:A good starting point would be to get some feedback from the beta testers that we gave access. Unfortunately we haven’t received a single message saying it does or doesn’t work.
Cheers,

Jay
says:Thanks for the reply. I signed up to be a beta tester a few days ago and haven’t been granted access to the beta. I’d be happy to try it out if I can.
Florian

Jay

says:I have tested the Beta2 with a D610. Unfortunately the D610 is still not detected by the Sofortbild app. I sent you a similar feedback over HockeyApp on 24 March. So I wonder why you did not receive a single feedback until now.
Florian
says:I am sorry, didn’t see the feedback in the HockeyApp UI! Replied in the meantime…

says:Hi, I have tested beta 2 with a d610 and it does work for me. Although sometimes the second image is delayed wrong after taking the picture. The saved images are not affected.
More feedback to come.
Thanks,
Thomas
says:Hi Florian,
I did some further tests with the beta2. I found some issues with zooming the pictures. When I use the two finger gesture to zoom in the picture then the center of the view jumps to lower left corner of the picture. What I expect is that that either current center of the view stays at the same position in the picture or that the position where the mouse points to stay fixed (look at the Mac OS X Preview app for the zoom behavior).
The second issue with zoom is, that every second picture is shown with 100% zoom regardless of my desired zoom level.
Regards,
Thomas
Florian
says:Thank you very much for the feedback, Thomas! Issue 1 is well known, but probably not easy to fix. The problem is in OS X, not our app, but we’ll try if we find a workaround. Issue 2 sounds like a bug on our side, we’ll investigate.

says:Great I am in now. Is there a reason why the shooting button is disabled, when I enable live view? D5300 with beta2 on 10.10.3
Florian
says:Yes, there is. Nikon cameras won’t take a picture unless you switch off live view. Same applies when operating the camera directly, with the small difference that it disables and re-enables live view automatically when pressing the shutter. I take that as a feature request. 😉
Jay
says:I second that as a feature request! Also, like I mentioned in my beta notes, I’d love to have the option to display JPG previews when shooting in JPG or JPG+RAW.
Janso
says:Well, it sure would make a lot of sense 🙂
Nikon´s Camera Control 2 does more or less the same thing.
Norm
says:I noted at Hockeyapp that that beta is over? I have a D5300 and I would like to see how this app performs with my camera, is it possible to still get a copy of the beta, or are you about to release it?

comments need to be approved first, otherwise the site would be spammed within the hour.

Norm
says:Hello Florian, thanks for the access to beta 2, I tried it in my D5300 this evening and here are some initial thoughts.. I noted that if I activate Live View, I cannot take a picture until I close it?
The display does not show me which mode I am in, though the various settings do enable and disable depending on which mode you are in. Can the app show me mode selected?
Can the exposure be shown more like it is on the camera? -*****0*****+, I know its probably a nitpick, but I find that view easier to make adjustments?
Can the app adjust the focus point? If not is easier said than done?
I guess I am sort of comparing it to Nikon’s app which I’ve seen in trial mode, which of course is not inexpensive, which makes your work so great for what you do provide… Thanks for your feedback If this is not the best place for feedback, point me in the right direction….

Emmanuel
says:Hello. I have a 4-hour photo shooting on Friday with about 200 people to shoot. I planned to use Sofortbild and hopefully tried in advance to figure out that the app does not support the D610 yet. Last time I used Sofortbild I haven’t updated the camera… Is there a way I can get access to that beta program? I would much much appreciate! Thanks, Emmanuel
Emmanuel
says:Hello! I have just changed my camera to a D610 and didn’t realise it was incompatible with sofortbild. I am running a 4-hour photo shoot on Friday with 200 people expected. Would it be possible to obtain a beta version of sofortbild for that event? Thanks in advance! Much appreciated.

Rick Simpson
says:I’ve installed Sofortbild version 1.3 (85), and it works OK with a D300S. However, I need a version that will work with a D610. The Beta testing period appears to have ended some months ago, but no currently available version works with D610.
Is it still possible to download the 1.4 Beta 2 with D610 support, or is there a new non-beta version coming out soon?
I’m happy to test for the D610 if you still need testers.
